The Christmas trading period represents almost a quarter of fine food distributor, Cotswold Fayre’s, annual sales.
To help retailers plan for this important time of year, the company held a number of Christmas Roadshows across the UK to showcase its Christmas range, which has doubled since last year and includes more than 800 products from 180 suppliers.
Paul Hargreaves, chief executive at Cotswold Fayre, reveals some early trends for this year’s festive period: “It is clear that retailers are looking for some visual impact and theatre in their stores at Christmas. Orders for our largest and most colourful products such as Sorini’s Chocolate Red Globe and Terramezzo’s Salt and Pepper Grinders are expected to boom.
“Orders for advent calendars will also do well, as retailers seek to boost November sales and offer customers something a bit different from the norm. The most excitement so far this year has been generated by the Pork Scratching Calendar from The Snaffling Pig.”
Cotswold Fayre’s Christmas catalogue provides a mix of premium traditional products such as Von der Heide’s Stollen, Prestat’s Mince Pies and Georgie Porgie’s Christmas Puddings, alongside a host of different and slightly quirky skus.
Paul says: “Consumers are looking for something a bit different at Christmas, and are likely to choose a number of premium products to enhance their festive period. Retailers are looking to offer their customers a choice, with traditional staples at different price points, and gifting products that delight.”
Cotswold Fayre’s Christmas range covers a wide range of categories including baking, confectionery, grocery and store cupboard essentials, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, make your own gift sets and chilled.
